Welcome to The Maritime.  My name is Nathan Menefee, founder of The Maritime.  I’ve found that I have developed a thirst for finding interesting news and photos from the maritime world. As an officer in the U.S. Coast Guard and a graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, the topics I present are that of my life and my work. I have an unlimited Third Mate’s license, a Qualified Member of the Engine Department (QMED) endorsement, and a Tankerman Dangerous Liquid Person In Charge (PIC DL) endorsement.  I’ve sailed aboard a variety of ships from container ships, to a tanker, oiler and Coast Guard cutter.  It is my policy not to publish content regarding my official duties in the U.S. Coast Guard.  The content that I post is from publicly available sources or deemed releasable by the U.S. Coast Guard. This is my dabble in attempting to consolidate and share interesting maritime news and content. Enjoy…please feel free to comment!

Thanks for stopping by!

I like it. The often forgotten maritime world could really use something like this-a forum of news reflecting the information they need to remain professional in a failing industry within the US.

Nathan, you post that you are a graduate of USMMA, but are you still a licensed mariner with experiences on all types of merchant vessels as well as Coast Guard cutters?

    1. Noted big John….I'll update my bio with some more details! The Polar Trader can not be left out.

  3. Nathan, Thanks for commenting on CGBlog… I was unaware you had your own site and from what I've read thus far in you writings I must say I'm impressed. Keep it up! Adding to my feedreader NOW!
